Lang Tengah is a small island only 30 min away from
Perhentian islands and just a few minutes from Redang
Island. The aquatic life encountered here is very
similar to that of Redang Island, but slightly different
from that of Perhentian island. However it is not
as well known as Redang and there are much fewer divers
here. The corals are in excellent condition since
these reefs have hardly been visited by divers or
snorkelers. This coral garden is matured and become
a natural habitat for most of the sea creatures. The
visibility is excellent, often ranging between 20
to 35 metres.
There's a good place to deep dive up to 30m with
lots of different kind of fish including snappers,
moray eels and bamboo sharks. Usually the visibility
is about 30m above the thermocline, which is often
inexistent. So you can see the bottom from the surface!
Other species that can be seen here are turtles
and parrotfish and sometimes a leopard shark. There
are schools of snappers and fusiliers, there are lion
fish and nudibranches and colorful anemones with clownfish.
The hard corals on these sites are stunning. There
are lots of fire corals and gorgonians as well as
staghorn coral and table corals.
In between dives you can snorkel off the beach and
people keep seeing eagle rays and black tip reef sharks.
